Creative Voices: Empowering Expression Through Art and Media
Creative Voices brings together photography, media, and music through two distinct programs that equip young people with the tools to tell their own stories. Guided by creative professionals, participants develop confidence, discipline, collaboration skills, and a sense of purpose through artistic expression.
At its core, Creative Voices affirms one belief: creativity is not a hobby. It is resilience in motion.
“We help youth see themselves as creators, not statistics.”

Our Approach
Every young person carries a story. For many, art becomes the language they use when words are not enough.
Creative Voices creates safe, structured spaces where youth can explore identity, process emotion, and build practical creative skills. Participants are encouraged to transform lived experience into powerful expression while gaining exposure to real world pathways in creative industries.
Our programs are trauma informed, culturally grounded, and rooted in the understanding that expression builds confidence and community connection.
Our Programs
Beats Beyond Barriers
A six week, trauma informed youth music initiative serving underserved youth in Chicago. Led by professional musician and educator Michael Kenady, participants receive hands on training in vocals, piano, songwriting, sound engineering, and live performance.
The program combines musical skill building with emotional development and concludes with a community showcase that celebrates creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
Lens and Legacy
A six week photography and videography program for youth ages 12 to 18. Guided by professional teaching artists, participants learn visual storytelling, lighting, composition, filming, and editing.
Youth use photography and film as tools for self reflection, advocacy, and narrative ownership, transforming personal experiences into meaningful creative work.
What We Offer
Photography and Videography Training
Youth gain technical skills in camera operation, editing software, and visual storytelling while learning how media can be used for social impact.
Music and Audio Production
Through songwriting, recording, and performance, participants explore music as both therapy and storytelling.
Creative Media and Digital Literacy
Participants build foundational skills in branding, graphic design, and digital communication, preparing them to navigate and lead in a media driven world.
Community Showcases
Each program cycle culminates in a community showcase that celebrates creativity, confidence, and collaboration. These events allow youth to present their work publicly, strengthening pride and ownership in their accomplishments.
Why It Matters
Creative expression often unlocks what silence holds. Many youth face emotional and systemic barriers that limit their ability to feel seen or heard.
Creative Voices amplifies those voices. It turns uncertainty into skill, pain into art, and creativity into opportunity.
