Fostering Futures is the cornerstone of Through The Concrete’s mission to help young people rise above adversity and step confidently into adulthood. Designed for youth ages 14–18 — particularly those in foster care, group homes, or at risk of system involvement — the program provides the support, mentorship, and real-world skills every young person deserves before transitioning to independence.
🌼 Our Purpose
Adolescence can be one of the hardest seasons to navigate — especially for youth facing instability, trauma, or limited access to guidance. Fostering Futures bridges that gap by pairing participants with mentors who model consistency, accountability, and care. Together, they work to build confidence, emotional awareness, and a clear vision for the future.
“We help youth plant roots of resilience that last long after the program ends.”
💡 What We Offer
Our approach combines mentorship, education, and empowerment through five key areas of growth:
Life Skills Development
Youth learn practical tools for everyday living — from budgeting and nutrition to time management and decision-making — giving them a foundation for independence.Career Readiness
Participants explore their strengths, learn professional communication, create resumes, and connect with local employers, trade programs, and college resources.Financial Literacy
Through interactive workshops, youth gain an understanding of saving, credit, and responsible spending to help them make empowered financial choices early on.Mental Health & Wellness Support
Trauma-informed group sessions and one-on-one check-ins provide a safe space for youth to discuss challenges, build coping skills, and develop emotional resilience.Mentorship & Community Connection
Each participant is matched with a trained mentor who provides consistent support, guidance, and encouragement. Mentors help youth set goals, celebrate wins, and stay grounded through life’s transitions.
🤝 Why It Matters
Many youth in care “age out” without the resources or relationships they need to succeed. Fostering Futures exists to change that outcome — to make sure every young person leaves our program with a network of support, a sense of purpose, and the belief that they can thrive on their own terms.
