Fostering Futures
Fostering Futures is a core program of Through The Concrete created to help young people rise above adversity and move into adulthood with confidence and stability. Serving youth ages 14 to 18, especially those in foster care, group homes, or navigating systems, the program provides mentorship, guidance, and real world skills before they transition into independence.
Our Purpose
Adolescence is already a pivotal season. For youth facing instability, trauma, or limited support, that season can feel overwhelming. Fostering Futures exists to close that gap. Each participant is paired with a mentor who models consistency, accountability, and care. Together they work to strengthen confidence, emotional awareness, and a clear vision for the future.

What We Provide
Our model blends mentorship, education, and empowerment across five key areas:
Life Skills Development
Participants build practical skills for daily living including budgeting, nutrition, time management, and responsible decision making. These foundations prepare them for long term independence.
Career Readiness
Youth explore their strengths, practice professional communication, develop resumes, and connect with employers, trade programs, and post secondary opportunities.
Financial Literacy
Through engaging workshops, participants learn about saving, credit, and responsible spending so they can make informed financial choices early in life.
Mental Health and Wellness Support
Trauma informed group sessions and individual check ins provide safe spaces to process experiences, strengthen coping skills, and build emotional resilience.
Mentorship and Community Connection
Each participant is matched with a trained mentor who offers steady guidance and encouragement. Mentors support goal setting, celebrate progress, and remain a grounding presence during key transitions.

Too many youth age out of care without the relationships or resources necessary to thrive. Fostering Futures is designed to change that trajectory. Every young person who completes the program leaves with practical tools, a supportive network, and the confidence to build a future on their own terms.
